Houston, TX

The city of Dallas gets most of the name recognition when it comes to Professional Sports and the state of Texas. However, Houston shouldn't be conisdered too far behind, as their success in recent years - most notably in baseball - has been on the up and up.

Houston Astros

The Houston Astros. Legendary home fields (Astrodome, Minute Maid Park), legendary players (Nolan Ryan), and legendary cheating scandals (sign stealing in 2017). They even have a legendary manager in coach Dusty Baker.

Speaking of Dusty, ever wonder why Dusty wear gloves in the dugout? We've answered that for ya. You're welcome.

The 2022 Astros are currently playing in their sixth ALCS in a row. Though they are up 2-0 on the New York Yankees, it's still a long way to go. In fact, their track record has been almost a binary decision during these six league championship series with regard to winning the World Series. Half the time they lose the ALCS. And if they do advance, half the time they lose the World Series, thus proving that math does work. Or something like that.

Hall of Fame players that are considered to be Astros favorites include, Nolan Ryan, Craig Biggio, and Jeff Bagwell to name a few.

Houston Rockets

Hakeem Olajuwon is the first person that comes to mind when we think about the Houston Rockets. That and Clyde Drexler coming over from the Portland Trailblazers. But mostly Hakeem.

The Rockets, which have had some really excellent players over the years, just haven't been able to recapture the magic of their back-to-back NBA Title Wins in the mid 1990s.

Olajuwon also might have had the best block on NBA legend, Michael Jordan. Check out this block.

Houston Texans

An expansion team that played its first NFL season twenty years ago back in 2002, the Houston Texans saw no real success until they made the playoffs in 2011. Fairly bold move though to name your team after the people of your home state.

They've never appeared in a Super Bowl. In fact, they've never made it to a conference championship game. 2022 doesn't look like the year for either as well.

The two best Texans ever are probably Andre Johnson and JJ Watt.

Houston Dynamo

Two-time winners of the Cup, the Houston Dynamo MLS team belongs to the Western Conference. There was some controversy in the early days around their name, previously Houston 1836. The backlash moved the team's ownership on the position and they've been called the Dynamo ever since 2006.

The Dynamo share both their home field (PNC Stadium) and branding with the Dash. In fact, the same ownership group owns them.

Their two MLS Cup victories came in 2006 and 2007. They also won a U.S. Open Cup in 2018.

Houston Dash

The Dash are the National Women's Soccer League pro team that exists in the 77003. They been in existence for nearly a decade and just recently (2022) qualified for the NWSL playoffs, their first time ever. They've yet to win a championship, but perhaps that could be coming as they've managed to improve their standing in the league with this year's 4th place finish.
